Accessibility at AsOne Coworking

We are very appreciative of the independent feedback and recommendations, in relation to the design of the spaces at AsOne Coworking and overlaying the Australian Access and mobility standards. Where ever possible, the recommendations were adopted in an effort to create a space to be enjoyed by everyone.

With respect to the RS&S Mills heritage buildings and services, the toilet facilities are a shared facility. They are a short walk (45 metres) from the AsOne Coworking front entry along a level path. There are 5 toilets, including 1 ambulant and 1 wheelchair accessible toilet. There are umbrella’s available at the AsOne Coworking entry incase of inclement weather.

Parking

A marked, accessible car park space is located in the carpark off Rutland Street, metres from the front entrance to AsOne Coworking. Anyone not requiring an accessible parking space, with respect to local retail traders, are requested to use the all day carpark at the rear of the Mills site (from the bend on Hampton Street).

Entrance

The main entrance to AsOne Coworking, is accessed from the carpark on Rutland Street. Immediately inside the opening (3 x 3m roller door), there is ramp (1:14 gradient with compliant handrails) to a carpeted walkway connecting all the office, meeting room and open plan spaces on the one level.

All doors are unlocked with a key access system (fob key), and door handles (accessibility compliant) are manually operated.

Door frames and doors meet contrast requirements.

Walkway

The central walkway is raised 270mm from the existing concrete floor. Please be mindful that some sections of walkway don’t have railing (maintaining access for fire services), these areas have contrasting carpet tiles to denote an edge.

Toilet

All toilets are a short walk (45 metres) from the AsOne Coworking front entry (to the right as you exit the building) crossing through the carpark and along a level footpath. The sign ‘The Loft’ (dance studio), and a red door, is at the entry and the toilets are immediately to the right as you enter. There are 5 toilets, including 1 ambulant and 1 wheelchair accessible toilet. There are umbrella’s available at the AsOne Coworking entry incase of inclement weather.

Showers aren’t available.

Desks

All desks, with the exception of the meeting rooms, are height adjustable. Of the height adjustable desks, some are gas lift and operated by a grip lever, the other desks are electronic and have a touch screen panel. Where ever possible we are able to move desks around to meet any requirements.

Hearing Augmentation

Hearing loop systems, are a future consideration, but not currently available in our spaces.

The combination of materials utilised throughout AsOne Coworking; carpet, wool felt wall panels, woollen weave ceiling panels and vast amount of closed cell foam thermal insulation, provides quiet and acoustically comfortable spaces.

Access to Areas

All areas on approach and doorway widths, are accessibility compliant. Kitchen amenities are located on or under the bench (floor to bench surface is 935mm). The microwave, dishwasher and fridge (drawers) are located under the bench. The filtered water tap, kettle, sandwich press and coffee machine are all at bench height. Glasses, cutlery, plates etc are located in pull out drawers under the bench.
